KATARZYNA KOCHANY (DGC) is a director whose work often touches on themes of ordinary people being caught in-between: between cultures, between loyalties, between tough choices.
She has experience directing projects with VFX and stunts.
Katarzyna directed second unit on the TV series Good Witch (Hallmark/Netflix). In addition, her directing work has played on CBC Television (which bought 3 of her films), Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Super Channel, Argo, Sofy TV and The BeBop Channel, and earned over 60 awards and 250 official selections at festivals, including Oscar-qualifying events such as Durban Film Festival in South Africa, BronzeLens in Atlanta, and Indy Shorts presented by Heartland Film.
She has directed over 40 projects that played at festivals in USA, Canada, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, India, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay, South Africa and Kingdom of Swaziland.
Katarzyna directed all season 1 episodes the female-led genre show ZAHARA which was featured in Forbes, won the IPF Pitch Pit competition, and was nominated for Best Digital Series at Blood In the Snow Film Festival, and best low budget series at T.O. Webfest 2020, released on Amazon Prime Video USA and UK, Super Channel and Apple TV.
She also directed second unit, guest-directed a scene for main unit, and is part of the producing team on The Marijuana Conspiracy, a fictional film inspired by a true story that took place in 1972, about a disturbing human experiment on a group of young women. The film has been picked up for distribution by Samuel Goldwyn Films and released on Hulu.
She is a member of the directors' caucus at the Directors Guild of Canada, a voting member of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, as well as a full member of Alliance of Women Directors.
